Music Reflection- November'10

2 November'10, Tuesday
Today Mr Herry checked our music composition of the 32 bars, which is our HW. Fortunately, i finished my HW, i made the minor composition of mine. When he checked my work, it was alright the nots and melody were correct. He also checked the others, so while the teacher was checking i tried out my melody composition by playing it in an organ at class. When i play it the melody were really weird. When i made the melody i didn't try it out, so this was the first time. I were determined to changed it and made a new one based on my 16 bar major composition. So at that time i hurried and made a new composition based on my last major composition. I tried it out again, it turn out better than the last one. So i asked the teacher to check it again, and made some corrections. Today i also add the lyrics to my composition, i did it hurriedly and was planning to change it when i make the finale of my composition as my HW. So, later on i will need to insert my 32 bars composition to the finale and then send it to Mr Herry. I will also need to change the lyrics and practice my composition since today we didn't had any practical class. I will need to try it out on my own and practice it for my practical exam on December.

5 November'10, Friday
Today was a holiday, the teachers are having some kind of event at school. So we didn't had any class at school. With that, i will need to transfer my finale to Mr Herry as a HW and i will need to practice the 32 bars composition for my exam. I will need to master the song and practice it everyday slowly, for Mr Herry to checked my playing on Tuesday next week.

9 Nov'10, Tuesday
Today Mr. Herry checked our finale and the hand-in of our assessment with our parent's signature. Mr Herry also disturbute our book report from last time, that we had made, i got a perfect score and was really proud. When we waited for our friends to submit their finale sheets Mr Herry gave us some tips about "passing note" for our composition. Then he checked our finale one by one. When he took a look at mine, he gave me some tips and changes to edit my composition and lyrics, because the syllable does not really fits the notes. He gave us time to edit it until Friday, so i will need to open and edit my finale later on by adding the copyright, deleting the "score" and edit my lyrics. When played, my composition sounds kind of javanese but it was quite okay, i am quite embarassed when Mr Herry played my composition in front of the class. We do not have anytime for our practical class, so i will need to practice my song at home.

12 Nov'10, Friday
Today in theory class, i edited my lyrics of the final draft by looking at my final finale score at Mr Herry's computer. After that we practice our song composition for a while for rehearsal later. When i played the song there were mistakes and Mr Herry gave me some tips, i will need to improve by practicing a lot more. At the rehearsal, i played my song with a lot of mistakes and was kind of depressed my it. I need to pracitce and add more tone to the composition. I also need to practice/increase my tempo so the hearer would not be bored, because i played the tempo badly and was a mess. Mr Herry also explain to us that we need to put some videos for our reflection blog and comment on people's videos. So i will need to do it on the weekend.

16 Nov'10, Tuesday
Today in the morning Mr Herry gave us the music scores of each members of each instrument group in a booklet. After that he gave us a few minutes to practice our song for rehearsal as our instrument class. Since the piano has performed last week we just watched the people rehearse. In instrument class i was told about the introduction and the ending that i need to add when im going to play the song which is using the 1st and 2nd bar chords from the composition, but playing it 2 octaves ahead. I was also told to update my finale because my left hand is now played differently because of Mr Herry's tips. Next time i need to practice the song using the introduction and the ending, i will also need to edit my final finale composition and send it to Mr Herry so it fit the song that i will play. After that we heared the people rehearse and hearing the people playing their song really well and that theyre song sounds good, i was kind of embarrased because i played my song really so and my tempo was a mess. I will need to increase the tempo of my song and practice a lot more, so that i can play it more fluently without being embarrassed.

19 Nov'10, Friday
Today as usual we were told to rehearse our song in front of the class. And before that were given some time to practice it inside class. The piano group was the first, i played my song quite well but the tempo was still quite mess up sometimes. So i need to improve that by practicing more frequently and by practicing it a little slower first.
We were also told to comment on our friends playing while they rehearse:

Adrian: I think Adrian played really well and the tempo are also well managed. There are just little mistakes, he can improve it by practicing and focusing on those mistakes.
Averylia: Jacintha played great well on her melody. Her song sounded mellow but also entertaining. She can make her playing better by practicing more.
Anissa: Anissa's melody is cheerful and sounded like an etude. She played quite well today but had some mistakes. Practice more to get better!
Mahardika: Imesz played really well on her rehearsal. i like her melody because it reminds me of a nostalgic past. She could improve her tempo when playing it.
Tiffany: Tiffany played her melody really well in the first minutes. She had some stops in the middle but overall it was good. She could improce by practicing more and cover up the stops to make the play more fluent. Her melody sounds really nice and cheers me up.

23 Nov'10, Tuesday
Today we were asked again about our finale work wether we want to change it again or not, because i was wrong in my left hand notes, i said that i would want to change it, the last due date for the work was Thurshday so i need to hand it in on Thurshday by emailing him. After that we were given 15 minutes to practice our song for the second rehearsal. Today i played quite fluent but there is one wrong but not major which is good, i need to practice more to play the song with no mistakes and for it to be more legato, i will also need to memorise the song now.

26 Nov'10, Friday
Today we were told to watch our rehearsal video from last week, it was kind of embarassing to see me playing. We were also told to make some comment on the people playings and melodies on the video. I comment on them one by one and tried to be specific and i think i did quite well in commenting them. I also comment to myself, i think i played rather well and i need to practice more to get the play more fluent, i also need to start trying to memorise the song. After that we were also told to read them out loud, because it was quite hard i read and made it into a summary when i was telling them with the microphone. After the reading the others that havent perform last Tuesday rehearse their song infront of the class while we wrote our reflection on the music development on a piece of paper, then Mr Herry told us that this week is our last week to update and made videos in our blog which was good, and that he would check on our Journals next Tuesday. The people comments on me were that my song was simple and sounded Javanese, that i played good and i could practice more. So i i will practice more and i will try to memorise the song. These are the comments that i made:

Adrian: Adrian played well during his 2nd rehearsal, there are some mistakes but it can be improved by practicing more. His melody sounded really nice and was flowing.

Imez:Imez played really well, i like her song it sounds nice and reminded me of my childhood. She could try using the pedal all of her play, it will sound nicer.

Jacintha: Jacintha played really well and fluent, she could try controlling her tempo more by being more calmer when se is performing. She also could try memorising her song now. Her song sounded mellow but has a happy tone to it.

Reynaldi: Reynaldi played well but there were stops and he could improve it more by more practice. His melody sounded nice.

Daniel: I like Daniel's song it sounded cheerful. There were mistakes on his play but he can improve it more with more practice!

Pandu: He played well and quite fluent. The song sounded simple but easy to enjoy and hear. He could practice more and be more composed.

Gregorius: He played his melody really well and the melody was calming. He could try memorising it more now.

Ardhito: Ardhito played his melody well, he could try practicing more. His song was quite slow and simple. He could try being calmer when he played and practice more.

Tiffany: Tiffany played her song well, there were mistakes in the middle that need to be more focusly practiced but overall, it was good. Her melody sounded really cheerful and could cheer me up. Great melody!

Video, 25 Oct- 31 Oct'10

Today i played minor scales which is E minor harmonic and melodic. I also played D minor harmonic and melodic. It was quite alright but i am still confused when i played it because it is different from the major scales that i usually plays. There was quite a lot of wrongs and i am still searching for the flats and sharps about where it is and are repeating the scales which was kind of bad. The fingering was also quite wrong. So i need to practice more to remember these things. The harmonic and melodic also made me more confused. The sound was also different and am kind of weird for me. So i need to be able to practice more to adapt to these minor scales.

In this video, i practice my melody composition. I played the melody quite okay. There was still wrongs and the tempo is kind of a mess in this practice. However, what i played is the old one. I played it quite nice, but the variation of the left hand is not enough i need to add more variation to the left hand and adjust the tempo. For that i need to practice the melody more slowly. I also want to edit the composition and play the 32 bars of melody for my next practice. I also need to play more variation of the left hand so i need to practice more of my left hand chords and then mix it with my right notes melody.

Video, Oct- Week 4

In here i forgot to do the E major broken chords. I havent memorise all the patterns and steps that made me go wrong in the pattern and when playing the broken chord. I should practice it slower and memorise it first. Repeat the pattern again and again. Next time i should practice until G major.

In here i played C-G broken chords. It was kinda good, but theres still mistakes. I need to be able to really memorise tha pattern of the broken chord and all the sharps and flats to be able to play it. I should practice it slower and until B major next time.

Video, Oct- Week 3

This is when i was playing the broken chord from C-E major. I played it quite a mess and slow. It was still kind of a mess and i need to practice it more. Maybe i will play it more slower next time so my hands will be able to control and play the notes correctly. Then i can play it faster after that.



This is my second time practicing the broken chords from C-F major. I increased 1 major scale than my last practice because the goal is from C-B major. It is quite well but i need to practice more because there are still mistakes and my hands are not really used with these types of broken chords. With more practice, my hands will be able to remember the pattern and play it well. I will make it faster next time and increase the major scales.

Video, Oct- Week 2

In this video i am trying to memorise the song and practice it with the lyrics on Youtube.com for my group singing assessment on Friday. Our song is "imagine", and in this video i sang it alone because we got no time to practice it together. In here, I am trying to make some variations for the female lead to the song. The tempo and the pitch was quite okay. However, it end up not really good because i cant seem to make the variation and i need to memorise the song, so that i am able to express the meaning and the feeling of the song through my singing. I will also practice this songwith my group and not just me, to know if it'll sound as one or not.



Here, i tried to play the Major 7 again for my practical class, C-F. It was quite a mess, because i still havent remember all the sharps, places and the fingering correctly. Maybe it was also because this week, we didnt had our practical class, so there is no one to correct me when i am wrong. I will still need to practice it more, because if not it will be always a mess. Next time, i will practice it slowly, so i am able to cope with it and i can memorise it slowly

Video, Oct- Week 1

In this video, i played the Major 7 again because i havent master it yet. In this video i played just from C-F because i havent master these and need to take it slow so that my fingers could memorise the steps. I need to practice more of these because i havent played it fluently and well, there were still wrongs and not my hand is still confused of the sharps, notes and the fingering.

In this video i also played the Major 7 again because last time i haven't played it well. I increased the scales a little, i played from C-G now. However, the playing was still horrible, the fingering, notes were all wrong. I need to practice more and improve my playing. Play it slowly and focuse more when playing these chords.

Video week 1, term 2

This video, is when i am practicing major 7 which is assigned by my music teacher. I played c-f here and there was a lot of mistakes because it was my first. C and F were kind of easy because there is no sharps or flats that i should take note of when playing it, because there was no flat nor sharps when i play it's major 7, that made it easier than E major 7. However, there was still a lot of mistakes and it was horrible, so i need to practice it more.

In this video i played from C-E major 7. E major 7 was hard, C and D were kind of hard to, but in here i managed to do C easily and better than last time which was great. However my target is from C-B which is still a long way to go. And i also need to master it, play it fluently, it's gonna be really hard, so i need to practice playing C-B major 7 more and slowly. Not in a hurry so that my hands would remember the steps.
